Exploring the area around Propriano

The Aiguilles de Bavella, rising to an elevation of 1,857 meters, are a mountain formation in central Corsica. They tower over the Bavella Pass (1,218 m), which connects the Alta Rocca region to Corsica's east coast. The landscape is characterized by jagged peaks, massive rock faces, and wind-twisted pines. We recommend hiking to the "Trou de la Bombe" (Bomb Hole), circling the peaks, and visiting the Purcaraccia rock pools. Departing from Terra Thea before 8:00 a.m. for the 45 km drive allows you to enjoy the best light, avoid the crowds, and return early enough to make the most of the residence's swimming pool.

Bonifacio is a town located at the southern tip of the island, known for its lively marina and a medieval citadel perched atop a cliff. The 13th-century Bastion de l'Étendard houses a small museum recounting the town's history. The King of Aragon's Staircase—comprising 187 steps—is carved directly into the cliff face. Located off the southeastern coast of Corsica, the Lavezzi Islands form a nature reserve featuring granite rock formations and beaches. Leaving Terra Théa before 8:00 a.m. for the 60 km drive helps avoid the crowds. After exploring the town, a boat trip along the cliffs is highly recommended; be sure to select a tour operator and check their parking arrangements before heading there. On the return journey to Terra Théa, you can visit the beaches situated between Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio: Piantarella, Rondinara, Santa Giulia, and Palombaggia. Finally, head towards the Col de l'Ospedale pass to return to Terra Théa and its swimming pool

The Lion of Roccapina—a magnificent pink granite sculpture naturally shaped by millennia of erosion—is located 35 km from Terra Théa. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in Southern Corsica. Towering over the Bay of Erbaju, this famous stone figure stands tall, head held high and crowned, like the guardian of the area. A track provides access to the beach. You can also hike up to the Lion, where a panoramic view of the island's south and Sardinia awaits as your reward. Less well-known, the Roccapina Elephant can be viewed from the RT 40 road and the "Casa di Roccapina."

Set off on an unforgettable walk to the majestic Genoese tower of Campomoro, perched above one of Corsica’s most beautiful gulfs. In peak season, leave Terra Théa before 8:00 a.m. to ensure easy parking near the tower, close to the "Bar des Amis." From the tower, the coastal path leads to the idyllic cove of Cala d'Agulia and the bay of Cala di Conca.

Sartène—"the most Corsican of Corsican towns"—is perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Gulf of Valinco, offering a breathtaking view that stretches as far as the Bavella Needles. Designated a "Town of Art and History," it invites visitors to discover a diverse and authentic heritage encompassing religious sites and natural beauty. As you explore the narrow, picturesque alleys of Sartène’s old town, you can admire the medieval quarter, the Church of Sainte-Marie, the town hall (formerly the Genoese governors' palace), and the watchtower—the last remaining vestige of the 15th-century ramparts. Place de la Libération (commonly known as Place Porta by locals), lined with cafés, serves as a gathering place for residents of all generations. We highly recommend the local producers' market, held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings

Monte San Petru: Hike starting from the Col de Saint-Eustache Set out to discover Monte San Petru, an iconic peak rising to 1,400 meters that offers breathtaking views of the Taravo Valley, the Valinco region, and Alta Rocca. This must-do Corsican hike takes you through landscapes steeped in history—including the wreckage of a 1981 plane crash, where a memorial stele honors the 180 victims.Featuring panoramic ridges, a regenerating forest, and well-marked trails, this hike combines history, nature, and adventure, culminating in a spectacular finish at the summit of Monte San Petru. We recommend driving to the Col de Saint-Eustache via Aullène in the morning. You will be treated to a magnificent view of the massif's red rocks—saving you a trip to Utah's national parks! The return journey is quicker (45 minutes) via Petreto-Bicchisano or the Martini track (a 4x4 vehicle is required).

The archaeological site of Filitosa is located in Sollacaro, in the Taravo valley. The site was occupied from the Early Neolithic to the Middle Ages but mainly during the Bronze Age. It includes three Torrean monuments and thirteen statue-menhirs. Here, unlike Brittany, the menhirs are sculpted. We also recommend the site of Cauria near Tizzano with its alignments of I Stantari, Rinaghju and the Funtanaccia dolmen. Finally, the Cucuruzzu Capula site, between Sainte Lucie de Tallano and Lévie, offers a magnificent walk which allows you to discover the two remarkable sites, Cucuruzzu and Capula, thanks to a developed path. There we find the "Casteddu de Cucuruzzu", a fortified settlement dating from the Bronze Age and the "Casteddu de Capula", a medieval fortification built in the 10th century.
